Delivering positive outcomes is at the heart of what we do. To help achieve this, we set ourselves goals and monitor our performance on an ongoing basis as part of our quality assurance processes.
We set goals and monitor progress in a number of ways, including a routine of regular clinical and health & safety audits and other objectively based methodologies. We have adopted the HoNOS-LD (Health of the Nation Outcomes Scale) assessment tool, developed by the Royal College of Psychiatry to allow us to evaluate the work we do in a clear, objective manner and provide a structure for the ongoing review and care planning of service users.
It is important that we work closely with people to identify their goals and realise them. As part of doing this, we have developed a “My Life, My Goals” program which is an accessible tool designed specifically for service users to allow them to dictate what they want to achieve, by when and what support they require so that we can plan together to make them happen.
It is also important that we independently monitor and assess our day-to-day practice and, to do this, we conduct annual Independent Service Quality Reviews (IQSRs) which involve a person independent of the service spending time observing staff interactions and relationships to review our performance, recognise what we're doing well and identify how we could do better.
We also rely upon both the people using our services and their families and other supporting professionals to give us feedback and tell us what we do well and what we can improve on. We obtain people's views through regular feedback sessions or questionnaires which we publish and use to determine things we should focus upon.
